Andres was great. He provided a comprehensive tour even though it was just 2 of us. He was entertaining and provided details on buildings we would have never noticed.

JC was great! He was friendly, funny, and very knowledgeable. You could genuinely feel his passion for history and his country while he’s conducting the tour. This is one of the few, if not the only, tour we saw that also discusses the Muslim history of Spain. We almost cancelled as we wanted to rest a bit more that morning but soooooo glad we didn’t! Probably the best guide we have had.

Which Valencia Monuments Are Free On Sundays And Holidays?

Sundays and public holidays open the municipal gates. The Ajuntament de València waives admission at the Lonja de la Seda, the Torres de Serranos, the Torres de Quart, L'Almoina and the Museu Faller between 10:00 and 14:00 on those days; at any other time these sites cost EUR 2, or EUR 1 reduced. That concession belongs to the city alone. IVAM follows a Generalitat rule, the Museu Nacional de Ceramica a state rule, the Cathedral its own ticketed visit, and private foundations answer to no municipal calendar at all.

Free entry on Sundays and public holidays (open 10:00 to 14:00 on those days). Every other day it is paid. The Valencia Tourist Card also gives free entry. Free-on-Sunday is a municipal rule and does not apply to the cathedral, church, state or private venues.

Closed 1 and 6 January, 1 May and 25 December. The towers house the Colección Municipal de Armas.
Museu Faller (Fallas Museum) Monteolivete EUR 2 general; EUR 1 for groups, pensioners and students with Jove card. Tuesday to Saturday 10:00 to 19:00 (last entry 18:00); Sunday and holidays 10:00 to 14:00 (last entry 13:00). Closed 1 and 6 January, 1 May, 25 December. Audioguide EUR 1. Museu de la Ciutat (Palau del Marques del Campo) Ciutat Vella (La Seu) EUR 2; EUR 1 for children 7 to 12, groups, pensioners and students with Youth Card. Tuesday to Saturday 10:00 to 19:00; Sunday and holidays 10:00 to 14:00; closed Mondays. Municipal museum, free on Sundays and public holidays and free with the Valencia Tourist Card.
Museu d'Historia de Valencia (Mislata) Mislata (next to Parc de Capcalera) EUR 2; EUR 1 for groups, students with Carnet Jove, retirees and children 7 to 12. Tuesday to Saturday 10:00 to 19:00; Sunday and holidays 10:00 to 14:00; closed Mondays. Municipal museum, free on Sundays and public holidays and free with the Valencia Tourist Card. Open Tuesday to Sunday and public holidays 10:00 to 19:00, closed Mondays, 1 and 6 January, 1 May, 25 December. Municipal museum with a DIFFERENT free-Sunday rule from the others: free on Sundays and public holidays only from 15:00. Free with the Valencia Tourist Card.
Museu Tauri and Plaza de Toros L'Eixample (Gran Via) EUR 2 standard; EUR 1 concession. Tuesday to Saturday 10:00 to 19:00 (last access 18:30); Sunday and holidays 10:00 to 14:00 (last access 13:30). Municipal museum, free on Sundays and public holidays. The ticket also includes access to the bullring.
Casa Forestal de la Devesa Albufera coast (La Devesa) Free ('Entrada libre y gratuita'), Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays 10:00 to 13:30 only; capacity 18; groups over 10 must book.

The Ajuntament's own museums and monuments are free on Sundays and public holidays: Lonja, Serranos and Quart climbs, Almoina, Museu de la Ciutat, Museu Faller, Museu d'Historia, Museu Tauri. EXCEPTIONS and different rules: the Natural Science Museum is free on Sundays and holidays only from 15:00; Benlliure, Blasco Ibanez, Concha Piquer and the Rice Museum show no free-Sunday rule on visitvalencia.

Free and paid parts never borrow each other's status. The tower gates cost nothing to view from the street, yet the climb above them is a paid ticket, shut in rain, fog or strong wind. Check the venue's own page before you set out, since the free window is a condition rather than a default.

Free Things To Do In Valencia, Answered

Do the free walking tours in Valencia cost anything to reserve, and how does tipping the guide at the end actually work?

Every walk listed here is free, pay what you want, and that phrase is the entire price. You reserve a spot at no cost, on GuruWalk for most walks or on freetour.com for the Free Monumental Tour of Valencia, and when the walk ends you hand the guide whatever the walk was worth to you. Nothing is printed, demanded or expected in advance. All 36 free walking tours belong to independent local guides; this directory runs none of them and charges nothing for them.

Which parts of Valencia cost nothing to enjoy, and which monuments and museums ask for a ticket at the door?

The squares and gardens are the easy part. Plaça de la Verge, Plaza Redonda and the lanes of Ciutat Vella are free to wander, as are the Turia Gardens, Parque Central and the Jardins del Real, and the sand at Malvarrosa costs nothing either. Monuments work differently. The Lonja de la Seda is a ticketed monument, the Cathedral's cultural visit costs EUR 12 (EUR 6 reduced), and the tower climbs at the Torres de Serranos and Torres de Quart are paid tickets unless you arrive inside the Sunday and holiday window.

Is the Cathedral of Valencia free to visit, or does sightseeing always mean buying a ticket?

The Cathedral of Valencia charges for sightseeing: the cultural visit costs EUR 12, or EUR 6 reduced, and the Holy Chalice chapel sits inside, reached on that paid visit. There is no cultural visit on 1 and 6 January, 19 March, Palm Sunday, Good Friday, 9 October, 8 December and 25 December. The cathedral's own page lists free admission in set worship windows but does not say whether that covers sightseeing.

Which Monuments In Valencia Are Free On Sundays And Public Holidays?

Sunday is the day to remember, but only for the city's own sites. The Lonja de la Seda, Torres de Serranos, Torres de Quart, L'Almoina and the Museu Faller are free on Sundays and public holidays from 10:00 to 14:00, and cost EUR 2, or EUR 1 reduced, at other times. That rule belongs to the Ajuntament's museums and monuments alone. The Cathedral, the Miguelete, IVAM and the Museu Nacional de Ceramica each set their own terms, and none of them inherits the Sunday and holiday window.

Can you take a free walking tour in Valencia guided in Spanish rather than English?

Yes, and Spanish is well covered. Of the 36 free walking tours on this site, many guides walk in Spanish, several offer Spanish and English together, and a few pair Spanish with Italian. Each walk's languages are printed on its GuruWalk page, so you can confirm before reserving a free spot.

When are Fallas and the other big free street events in Valencia, and which dates stay unpublished?

Fallas keeps a fixed annual pattern: 15 to 19 March, with the mascleta firing daily at 14:00 from 1 March and the Crema closing the night of 19 March. Watching it all from the street is free, though the Special Section monument enclosures and the Ninot Exhibition are ticketed. The 2027 programme is not out yet, and the Semana Santa Marinera and Corpus Christi dates have not been published either.
